On June 25th, the Digital Innovation Pole – PTCentroDiH – was recognized as a Digital Innovation Pole for integration into the National Network and designation for application for access to the European Network, through a specific competition to be opened by the European Commission under the Program Digital Europe.
The primary objective of PTCentroDiH is to contribute to the digital transformation and modernization of the business, governmental and human fabric of the Central Region, and counts on the participation of the following 21 entities in its consortium: Cluster Engineering & Tooling, Sustainable Habitat Cluster, InovCluster, TICE. PT, AEMITEQ, AIBILI, BLC3, CENTIMFE, CTCV, Telecommunications Institute, Instituto Pedro Nunes, Polytechnic Institute of Guarda, Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, Polytechnic Institute of Viseu , Itecons, University of Beira Interior, University of Aveiro and the University of Coimbra
The consortium members' in-depth knowledge of the digital ecosystem of the Central Region to which they belong, allows PTCentroDiH to act as a linking vehicle between existing service providers in the Region and companies that need to acquire digital transformation services in order
to become more competitive and, in this way, contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the Center Region.
Despite having a transversal scope of action, the activity of PTCentroDiH is particularly focused on the transforming agendas of RIS3 Centro (sustainable industrial solutions; valorization of endogenous resources; technologies for quality of life and territorial innovation) and on its priority domains (materials , tooling and production technologies; health and well-being; digital and space technologies; culture, tourism and creativity; energy and climate; natural resources and bioeconomy).
It should be noted that the Digital Innovation Poles are collaborative networks that include specific digital competence centers, with the objective of disseminating and adopting digital technologies by companies and public administration, contributing to the increase in the competitiveness of their processes, products and services. The network of recognized Digital Innovation Hubs will be interconnected with the European Network of Digital Innovation Hubs to be promoted by the European Commission within the scope of the European framework programs for 2021-2027.

Within the scope of the Action Plan for the Digital Transition, published in the Resolution of the Council of Ministers (RCM) nº. 30/2020, of April 21st, measure nº. 8, Digital Innovation Hubs for Entrepreneurship, was approved, including in Pillar II — Digital transformation of the business fabric, which aims to dynamize a National Network of Digital Innovation Hubs to be developed in conjunction with recognized competitiveness clusters and technological interface centers, which network which will be interconnected with the European Network of Digital Innovation Hubs to be promoted by the European Commission within the scope of the European framework programs for 2021-2027.
